Ice Melt Sock is solution to Ice Dams and Solar Panel Snow
The best way to prevent ice dams from causing roof damage or snow from accumulating on solar panels, is by not allowing the freezing process to begin. Ice dam melt socks turn snow, ice, and sleet into a deicing liquid that works all season to do just that!!!
you live in a snowy region, you already know about the damaging
of ice dams. Clogged gutters fill up with ice, then water
runoff from the roof gets trapped by the dam and eventually backs
because the water is moving up the roof it travels under the shingles
and leaks into the house.
While a permanent
fix for ice dams usually
requires increasing the insulation, sealing and ventilation in
the attic, there is a simple way to diminish the damage after
has formed. Fill an ice melt sock with
a calcium chloride ice melter (do not
use rock salt). Lay the
sock onto the roof so it crosses
ice dam and overhangs the gutter. The calcium
will quickly melt through the snow and ice and create a channel
for water to flow down, continuing to melt the ice in the gutters or off the roof. The best part is the refillable ice melt sock only uses the calcium chloride it needs to get the job done. Then it stands by to continue to prevent roof ice dams for the rest of the season.
Use one standard ice melt sock for every 3-10 feet of gutter. A standard 18" refillable sock, (unfold to 36" if desired) can protect up to 40 square feet roofing all season. Reuseable, refillable, nylon melt sock lasts for years. Requires 3-20 lbs of "off the shelf" Ice Melt. Ice Melt Sock - Empty (requires off the shelf ice melt). Works on flat or sloped roofs, drains and gutters.
ON SOLAR PANELS AND STEPS:
Use one ice melt sock per panel/step. Place top of or along side of panel/steps or at step base, away from foot traffic.
